If your pet is insured and requires an operation, or ongoing treatment and medication, we can process your insurance claim for you. There are two methods of claiming:
1) Indirect claim: This is when you pay the bills up front and then we claim the money back for you. For us to fill out the veterinary aspects of the form(s), there is a small administration fee of £12.50. This fee is due to the time that it takes a member of a team to complete the form and ensure that all the correct documentation is sent off. This includes the relevant clinical history and liaising with your insurance company on your behalf.
2) Direct claim: As a practice policy we do not tend to do direct claims for insurance. However, we do understand that there are exceptional cases whereby there is a need to do this. Our practice policy is that this will only be done if you fulfill the following criteria:
The claim is in excess of £1000
It has been pre-approved by the practice manager Tracy Healy
You will be asked to pay your policy’s excess upfront and upon treatment. (There is often an shortfall in what we receive versus what we claim for. This will need to be settled upon the payment from your insurer).
Unless it is an emergency procedure, please give us ample time to arrange the necessary permissions to carry out a direct claim.
Whilst some Insurance Companies may inform You that you are able to do a direct claim, this is down to specific practice discretion as such if you wish to look at this route contact us to discuss this.
If we do proceed with you pre-approved direct claim there is a direct claim fee of £40.
N.B.: When you require us to do any insurance claims we will require a physical copy of the form, this is to keep a monitored log in practice as evidence in the event of any problems with your claim.
